Creative Director Marc Jacobs has been doing some wonderful things at Louis Vuitton. Yesterday’s collection was perhaps his best yet. From allusions to controversial film The Night Porter (most evident in the caps with masks, but also in the rubber and dominatrix references) to schoolgirl looks with ponytails, this was a gigantic collection of so many looks and transitions that I felt like it had been going on for 40 minutes. But everything was very cohesive.
One of my favorite looks, at left. I love his usage of jewel tones, the creative fabrics and shapes, and especially his play with lines in this collections. Jodphurs with stripes were also slimming, much like the hourglass-creating jacket at left. And god I love the shine on those pretty green boots!
The shoes were sexy and dark, with boots abounding. Leather contrasted with fabric on the same boot, creating a lush-meets-hard effect.
In case you didn’t think Marc was a true master, watch the full show here.
