New Gucci Arrivals

The name Gucci exudes glamour and sexuality.  This year’s Spring and Summer handbag collection from Gucci is full of classic revivals and new sleek designs and clean lines.  The Gucci Bamboo handle handbag, one of Gucci’s timeless classics, has been revamped and revived by designer Frida Giannini and is a beautiful tribute to this iconic Gucci design.  The bamboo handle handbag first burst onto the fashion scene in 1947 at a time when leather materials were scarce because of the war and quickly became a favourite of international celebrities.  The new bamboo bag has kept its original shape but is now slightly larger and includes classic features such as a long leather strap to accompany the bamboo handles.  Several new features of the handbag include a second strap of draped metal chain with a braided base and bamboo fringe tassels. Tassels and bamboo detail can be seen on many Gucci handbags this season, such as the “New Jackie”.  This is another revival of one of Gucci’s most iconic handbags, originally called “The Jackie” because it became Jacqueline Onassis’ favourite accessory in the mid 20^th century.  Whilst keeping the original rounded edge shape, the New Jackie has been modernized with soft, slouchy leather, an over-sized scale and a detachable strap that whilst some may think is slightly unnecessary, it does allow for more flexibility and variety.
